Jason Grill joined King Hershey in January 2009. Previously, Jason worked at the law firm of Holtsclaw & Kendall, LC as well as The Grill Law Firm, LLC where he practiced and helped operate the firm with his father, Brad. While in college, Jason worked in the White House in the Office of the Vice President and in law school Jason worked as a political/economic researcher and reporting assistant for Senior Correspondent Brooks Jackson at the CNN Washington, D.C. Bureau.
In addition to his legal duties, Jason is currently a State Legislator representing southern Platte County (District 32) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to the House in November 2006 and re-elected in 2008. Jason was the only freshman member of the minority party to sponsor and pass a bill in the Missouri House, as well as the only freshman member of the minority party to handle and pass a senate bill during the 2007 legislative session. In 2008, Jason passed sponsored legislation signed into law by the Governor, which helps fight identity theft in Missouri and protect consumers who have been the victims of identity theft. Rep. Grill currently serves on the Judiciary, Ways and Means, Financial Institutions (Ranking Member), and Real ID Committees in his second term. In his first term, Rep. Grill served on the Small Business, Tax Reform, Healthy Insurance, and Senior Nutrition Committee. He is also an adjunct professor of graduate and undergraduate classes at Park University in Parkville. Jason has helped raise awareness and support for the Parkville Animal Shelter and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City. Rep. Grill was voted Kansas City's 'Best Local Politician' in 2008 and was featured in the September 2008 issue of KC Magazine. Also in 2008, Rep. Grill was recognized by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as one of Missouri's Top Up and Coming Lawyers. The weekly magazine recognized the best attorneys in Missouri who are under the age of 39 and who represent determination in legal work and in community betterment. Rep. Grill's family was awarded 'Family of the Year' honors in 2005 at St. Therese Catholic Church by the Knights of Columbus Council #7199. Along with being an eagle scout and warrior in the tribe of Mic-O-Say, Jason is a graduate of St. Pius X High School where he was honored as a Kansas City Star Scholar Athlete. Jason graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Economics from Saint Louis University. He received his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law where he also received an Advanced Certificate in Dispute Resolution.
