Administrative and Governmental Law
King Hershey represents cities, counties and quasi-public boards and commissions regarding a wide range of municipal legal issues. We also represent private clients in matters involving local government, including land use and zoning law. Our attorneys are familiar with state capitols in Jefferson City and Topeka, representing clients in regard to pending legislation and before state agencies and officials, including the Missouri Administrative Hearing Commission.

Alternative Dispute Resolution
Providing services for any type of alternative dispute resolution and acting as a neutral, including the areas of mediation and arbitration. The services will be provided to parties and counsel by David Russell in the firm offices or in the offices of other counsel. Russell will provide these services as a former Circuit Judge of 15 years and a trial lawyer of 21 years, during which time he handled a large variety of legal actions. He is a member of the Missouri Bar and American Bar Dispute Resolution Committees, and has been authorized pursuant to Rule 17 of the Missouri rules of Procedure to act as a neutral and is listed as an authorized neutral in the Western District of Missouri, Federal Courts.

Banking
King Hershey represents banks and savings and loan associations and other lending institutions, as well as borrowers, in commercial loans, loan workouts and other financial transactions. We have also provided representation for banks dealing with regulatory agencies, including the F.D.I.C., as well as general business and litigation support to lending institution clients.

King Hershey represents corporations, general and limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and individuals in business matters. The firm advises clients on corporate issues including shareholder relations, corporate control and the fiduciary duties of officers and directors, and represents purchasers and sellers in business acquisitions involving stock and asset sales.

King Hershey has a wide range of experience representing public and private clients in regard to environmental issues. Representation has included negotiations and litigation involving the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and other state and federal agencies.

Estate Planning and Probate
King Hershey designs and helps implement estate plans for individual clients, to achieve personal estate planning goals, and to minimize estate taxes and costs of administration. We also have an active probate practice, which includes estate and trust administration as well as representation of a variety of parties (personal representatives, conservators and guardians) in the probate courts.

Gaming
King Hershey has represented several casino companies in Missouri and Kansas and is special counsel to the city of Boonville in regard to casino matters. As general counsel to the Kansas City Port Authority, we advise the agency responsible for city liaison to Kansas City's riverboat casinos. Our attorneys regularly appear before the Missouri Gaming Commission, the Kansas Racing Commission and legislative committees in both states. The firm has assisted developers, potential developers, and property owners in planning and obtaining approval for licenses and development of facilities for casinos.

The firm represents issuers, underwriters and developers in regard to the issuance of municipal bonds and other public financing transactions including the refunding and defeasance of outstanding bond issues. Tax
King Hershey provides corporate, partnership and individual income tax counseling and planning as well as representation of clients before state and federal courts and administrative tribunals. We regularly represent taxpayers involved in sales and use tax disputes with the Missouri and Kansas Departments of Revenue and other state revenue agencies.
